About The Artist
About The Artist
Peter Richard Ray was born August 7, 1968 in Oceanside, New York. He spent his childhood years in West Palm Beach, Florida, attended George Washington University, and then Stetson College of Law, graduating from the latter in 1993. Peter then immediately joined the law firm for which he has spent his entire 30 year plus career as a business/real estate attorney. Peter lives in West Palm Beach, Florida and is married, with two children, 3 dogs, and a hamster.
Several years ago, Peter was inspired by a wonderful and incredibly successful client, Harry Hamilton, who “doodled” during meetings. Peter noted how Mr. Hamilton’s doodling appeared to enhance Mr. Hamilton’s concentration and decision-making while at the same time serving as a calming relaxing tool for Mr. Hamilton. Peter, who has no prior art training (although may have inherited his mother’s artistic ability as she was an artist), started “Doodling” (ONLY) while on the phone with clients for this same intended purpose. Peter soon discovered that he can create sophisticated designs without “thought” as his concentration was fully on the telephone call.
Peter’s designs can be characterized as abstract geometrical/symmetrical, varying from simple to complex. Peter uses colored pens/markers on white papers and other paper surfaces. He starts with one color and one pattern until the pattern is complete in his mind on the page. He then switches to a different color and a different pattern, and then repeating this process, until the work is complete. Through colors and intricate designs, Peter creates an experience for the viewers to determine for themselves what they are observing, turning intangible esoteric feelings into tangible thoughts.
